"The Aldi-concert"

'Dont' look back in anger' some British band was singing on the radio when I returned from my first Zita gig in a long time. But I looked back with joy oh, man that was what I call a nice concert. The band was very relaxed, although Stef looked a bit tired and that also reflected on his voice (he seemed to struggle even more the day afterwards in Nijdrop, Opwijk). Nevertheless I thought he was still singing great. Stef put on an old Queen record to start the gig. Can anybody find me somebody to love? Well, the crowd sure loved him. The audience in Brussel was really different than the crowd in Opwijk. More mature in Brussels, people appreciated Mathieu and were absolutely quiet during the slow songs. But in Opwijk the audience was lot worse (sorry for those who were there - it's nothing personnal :) Some stupid guy shouted twice "Que'est ce que tu attends?" (What are you waiting for?) It could also have been "entends?" Well in that case, that dude probably had shit in his ears. (sorry for the explicit language, but those things really bother me) It got even worse when during the Ragdoll-impro (with a bit of 'The King' in it) someone started singing "Stirr it up" very loud. Please man, sing in your bathroom ok? Back to Brussels. Nice opening with "Love is a heavy brick" followed by "Song for a dead singer". Well, I got Tom's setlist, so here it is: (but they DID'NT play it this order)

- Love is a heavy brick
- 6th Night
- Impro to Buckley
- How could I resist?
- Bombo
- Stamina
- Moondog
- One perfect day
- At the barbers
- Our daily reminders
- TV-song : Steff announced it as 'het volgende nummer gaat over chips van den Aldi, borrelnootjes en River cola'
- Habibi Ouldi
- Disco! (a song about 'bowlingbanen' Stef said Tom disagreed)
- French Trombone
-------------------------------
- Worst Case Scenario (with Tommy)
- Moondance
- Maria ( a long intro from Stef about a story of a woman having a bad day)

But they also played some songs that weren't on the setlist: Middlewave and She=like meeting Jesus. Someone shouted 'Ice guitars' during the encores and Stef replied 'I bet you say that to every band' (something like that). After a stunning 2 hours set, it was overbut it was excellent. It was a bit weird to see them play so hard, especially if you compare this gig with the moondog concerts. Wasn't that the reason he left this other band from Antwerp? But what the hell: it was an unique concert, and that's it.
