Backstage Club, Munich, Germany 23/11/95
by STEFAN NEGELE

Last night I was able to go to the Moondog Jr show in Munich at a small club called Backstage (not the same Backstage where the dEUS show from last march took place, it was in a bar next to the Backstage) The place was rectangle of maybe 8 meters long and 10 meters in the other direction. The guys on stage had just enough room for their eqipment and maybe one meter to jump a little around. The show started at 9:30 and it was over at 11:30. So, I assume they played for about 1:50.

I bought my first official Moondog Jr item after the show... A TSHIRT. I was never able to hear any of the songs except for the TV song, but since they're kinda related to dEUS I thought I should be there. (and it was really cheap.) Okay, I must admit, the band is great! ASAP I'm able to order their CD I'll buy it. I really enjoyed the show. Don't ask me for a setlist, I have no idea what they played, but I do know that some songs were about: (I used Paul's setlist to guess some song titles. sorry.)

? (instrumental) 'Take It As A Combination' (if the song is about a woman, then that's the title) then a bunch of cool songs (one was a bout a monkey) Moondog Moondance (I remember these two) TV Song (the only one I'm definately sure of) a song about a dog ("Ein Hund" as Stef said)

the first little break was after 70 minutes (I think). the last song before the break was "A scottish coversong" followed by a great song that reminded me to the first Mr.Bungle Album.

oh and the "Marry marry, won't you marry" (quoting Paul) was also there. (maybe before the scottish cover song)

after that they played another two songs and again a little break. Then the local Backstage workers turned on the light and many people left the room, but suddenly Moondog came back and played another 3 songs, one of them was about Rain and that was the greatest song of that evening. the song was very long and started with some keyboard noise.

Uh, well. The info here is not very good, but I tried my best. They also played in Hamburg on Nov, 21. The tshirt I bought was blue and had a painting on the front side. I'll check that at home.
