Just a short review of the Zita Swoon gig in Utrecht @ Plato yesterday:

If I compare the Plato-store with the FNAC-forum in Antwerp, it was a lot smaller…but more intimate. The band showed up right on time. No synths or drums, only accoustic guitars, Thomas huge bass and some improvised percussion. Suddenly Stef & Tom realised they forgot some picks, but they were lucky because Natasha and I had some….and we were so good to give them to the guys ;) Stef started the mini-gig with his own version of the Animals' House Of The Rising Sun. Next up was the great 'How could I resist…', together with 'Disco!' one of my favourite live-songs. Funny version because Stef kept singing 'Hey, what's up Doc?' and 'miep,miep'. A great version of 'Our Daily reminders', but for the first time our 'killer picks' stricked and one of stef's strings snapped…and it happened again during Manwolf to Tom's guitar. And the poor guy had to play they keyboardsolo on guitar, but it was not so easy with only five strings. To finish the gig ,one of our mailinglist-peole (I believe she's called Dana, right?) asked for 'Trip to the city' …and so they played it. I really like those mini-gigs. They're very intimate, the band is relaxed and than you just know what 'the magic of Zita Swoon' is all about.
