Last night was a hell of a night Zita Swoon played in Coimbra and they really smashed the place down. The organisation assholes got them to play at the secondary stage and looking at it now it was the best thing they could do (but they are assholes anyway :-) ). The space in front of the stage was small so that made us all real close to the stage but there was a lot of noise around the stage with music coming from other places. It was the first Zita gig for me and i'm missing them already. Their confidence was growing through all the concert Tom was like a kid in stage Stef was wild and singing very good Bjorn was cool Tomas was jumping aroun and Aarich is a great drummer. I think they all were amazed with the crowd reaction to their songs. They are not very well known here in Portugal. In the end i got my vinyl edition of "I Paint Pictures..." with the extra tracks...YES!! :-) and even better i got it sign by the guys YES YES!! :-)))
The
set list they had prepared was this: But the songs weren't played in order and more songs were played the finished with Ragdoll Blues and it wasn't even in the setlist. In the setlist there are 2 songs as encore but they played 4.

... The day after, I went to Coimbra. The concert wasn't as good as in Lisbon, but it was still good. At the end of the concert, all the band came out to talk and give signatures, except Stef, who was really pissed up for some reason and wanted to leave as soon as he could. But I had the chance to go backstage and say goodbye. He's a really nice person, and lives life in a very intence way. He feels every feeling in a very strong way. When he's afraid, he's really afraid. When he's in love, he's dying. So when he's pissed up, I guess he's really pissed up. But he was still very nice when he said goodbye. I could write a lot about these three days, but they were so special that I'll keep a big part for me. When I'll have more time (and when I'll get some sleep) I'll write a little more about what I learn about them and from them (specially from Stef). I asked Björn to draw something on their CD, and he spent like 10 minutes drawing the whole band. The drawing fits so well on it that we could think it was always there. He made another small one also. later addition by Stéphane: In Coimbra, Tomas told me the meaning of Zita Swoon. He said "Aquiela que te quiere mucho" (or something), which means "the one (female) that desires you in a strong way". It's in a "universal language", made up by Stef. Zita means desire in greek , and Swoon is a way to say strong/intense in english (the original meaning is drums or something). I wouldn't have got there by myself! I won't say all the personal stuff I learned about the band (because I don't think they told it to see it on the internet), but there's one funny thing which I think Stef won't mind. Stef decided to stop smoking cigarettes, he doesn't want to have anymore smoke in his lungs. He said we can't smoke all life long. Anyway, now he smokes cigarillos, and guess what the brand is named: SUNRISE. (The rest of the one I smoked with him (I know, I'm so lucky) is now kept in a box of mine (I know, I'm so ugly)). |
