Mini jam for soundcheck
(around 13.40 until 13.55) Great gig from Moondog Jr. at Werchter Festival. A nice setlist (even if very short, appro.35mins.) and, the most important, an amazing performance of the band. I really have to admit that first seeing Tom and Thomas standing right next to me watching Moloko, with later also Benjamin, and then Stef on stage playing for the soundcheck and sending messages to Bernardo Fernandez (soundboard) made me feel like the gig would've been great. As a matter of facts it was. "Jintro and the great luna" began the show with a Stef jumpin' around his mike in a very special and funny way (wearing a nice flowered skirt?). Ice guitars followed and a huge clap of hands from the crowed gave rhythm to the first verse of the song; a lot of dynamics were used and it made it quite special. "Cachita", "Bombo"," Jo's wine song" and "TV song" followed: not many difference from others live performances or from the cd itself. Of course live these songs are much more instrumental and sometimes there are the usual tone variations of Stef's singing: all factors that make them much nicer. After Moondace, where Stef played an amazing solo, the big surprise of the Festival arrived for me. They played Ragdoll Blues, one of my absolutely favorite songs that Mr. Carlens ever wrote, and that i never had the chance to hear in the previous 3 gigs i went to see. It has been played in such a fantastic way. The whole gig finished with a fast "jam song", which I couldn't recognize, but it was somehow in a "Love 609" style. Just a few remarks: I really enjoyed the way that the 5 of them played. They were really into their music and expressed their feelings by playing it. Klaas (from dEUS) was right there at the front stage watching the gig but it's kind of impossible saying if he enjoyed or not, since he arrived alone with no smile on his face and left exactly at the same way. Another artist watching the gig was Me 'Shell NdgeOcello (who played the day before at the festival). She really seemed like she was having an amazing time, dancin' and laughin' with I don't know who. She left with a massive smile on her face, almost as huge as mine?.. |
